My first experiment was black and white scripture art. I love high contrast and so I gravitate a lot to black and white work. Definitely requires refinement to get to the level of detail that I’d want but I do like the effect:

My goal is to create rainbow/heavenly clouds and other heavenly back-drops for the purpose of creating scripture art without using oil paints. So far, I do not like how this has turned out. I started with a nice watercolour base and then wanted to add in fluff/details.
I ended up using oil pastels but they did not blend well at all and the darker colours were far too intense and thick to create the contrast I was looking for. I’m going to try my water-soluble wax pastels this week (below) and also gouache and see if either of those two create the effect I want.
I want to steer clear of soft pastels because although I love the colour and vibrancy, I don’t want to worry about specialty framing right now while I’m trying out some new stuff.

I don’t like how the darker colours paired in - will try with gouache on top instead of oil pastels as they did not blend right.
Old supplies (but haven’t used it in forever) I want to test out to try to add higher levels of detail on top of regular watercolour. I’ll also be trying gouache.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Don’t hesitate to reply to this email if you need a prayer, have a comment or just want to connect.
