In Between Projects

Painting wrapped up for the Canadian Wildlife collection...now planning what’s next!

So my Canadian Wildlife series is officially painted! That’s five paintings in three months—a pace I did not expect to manage, but I’m so glad I did.

Every brushstroke is now in place, and I’ve found temporary homes around the house for the canvases while they dry:

Since they’re oil-finished with mixed media underpaintings, I’ll need to wait a few weeks before I can varnish them—but the hardest part is done.

While I wait, I’ll be quietly planning my next series (not sharing details just yet), and working on a special portrait of Autumn that’s been waiting patiently on the easel for over a year now:

I also haven’t heard back yet about the mural proposal I mentioned last week, but I’ll keep you posted as soon as I do!

In the meantime, if you haven’t visited my website yet, it’s now live if you wanted to check it out at martinaheinelt.com.

I’ve been struggling a lot with meaning on social media so over on TikTok, I’ve started a new little project: pairing my artwork with Scripture, reading through the entire New Testament one verse at a time. I feel like it’s such a meaningful way to share both my faith and my creative process—feel free to follow along if that speaks to you: https://www.tiktok.com/@martinaheinelt

Thanks for being here. It means so much!

Warmly,

Martina
