New Commission for Equipping the Persecuted:
I’ve finally decided on a vision for this one so I just started with the underpainting. I used a roller to spread out a bit of the acrylic and I actually really like the effect that left. Still a few layers to go with the underpainting. I think with this one, I’m going to paste in some scripture. I haven’t pasted into my underpainting for a while now so I’m really excited to see how that will turn out.
2nd commission for Equipping the Persecuted:
This one is in the same spot at last week. Will be starting in oils tomorrow with my art class so I’m excited to share how that turns out next week!

This is where most of my work went into this week and I’m really excited with how this one is turning out. Unfortunately I’m not the best photographer and I always struggle to really capture the true colour and vibrancy of paintings that are done on a very dark/black background without capturing too much glare as well. I will continue to work on this!
As I’m almost at 15 weeks in my own pregnancy, babies have very much been on my mind so I’ve just gravitated a lot towards this painting each chance I got this week.
This one is almost there I think now. It requires a little bit more background glazing, a few more highlights and some work on the light source in the corner. I think it should be done in one - max 2 - more oil sessions. Hopefully it will finished next week!
Private Commission :

This one also in the same spot as last week. Nothing new to report!
In other news, I’ve been very drawn to the idea of creating some scripture-centred artwork in my prayer time recently. I’m not sure what exactly this will look like but I know I really love having encouraging scriptures around the house and I don’t have nearly enough right now.
I was gifted a beautiful frame with scripture and some watercolour florals in our nursery and its so uplifting to see it every time I’m in there. I would love more of that around our house.
There is definitely the option of printing out verses and just pasting them around the house - I feel like this is of course better than nothing - but I ultimately I want it to be beautiful and artful so that it lasts and becomes part of our home.
Usually as I get closer to my due date and for the 2 months after delivery or so, I also struggle with oils more and more. I have a harder time with the prep, clean up and smells associated with them so I typically switch out from oil and mixed media work to watercolours, graphite or other less time-intensive mediums. So I was thinking this could be a very restful project for me as I get closer and enter into that season.
Thank you so much for being here! Reply and let me know your thoughts if you have any you’d like to share. I’m always so happy to hear from you.
Warmly in Him,
Martina
